Weekly vs biweekly vs monthly house cleaning
Short answer: Every two weeks suits most homes. For a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home in the Peoria area, Wrenly Home is $149 a visit weekly (about $646 a month), $165 every two weeks (about $358 a month) or $199 once a month. Weekly is 10% cheaper per visit but about $288 a month more. Choose weekly if someone has dust-mite allergies or asthma (EPA advises vacuuming carpets and furniture every week[1]), you have young kids or shedding pets, or you don't want to clean in between. Monthly fits tidy one- or two-person homes.

Cost per visit, per month and per year
Per-visit prices by home size on each schedule. Bathrooms beyond the included number add $12 (weekly), $15 (every 2 weeks) or $20 (monthly) per visit. Supplies are included.
| Home | Every week | Every 2 weeks | Once a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1 bed (1 bath incl.) | $109 | $119 | $145 |
| 2 bed (2 baths incl.) | $125 | $139 | $169 |
| 3 bed (2 baths incl.) | $149 | $165 | $199 |

| 5 bed (3 baths incl.) | $239 | $259 | $315 |
| Each extra bathroom | +$12 | +$15 | +$20 |
What that adds up to. The monthly figure is the per-visit price times visits per year (52, 26 or 12) divided by 12. The first-12-months figure counts the first visit as the deep clean ($175-$429) that every plan starts with.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1 bed | Every week | $472 | $15.57 | $5,734 | $5,668 |

| Every 2 weeks | $466 | $15.36 | $5,714 | $5,590 | |
| Once a month | $249 | $8.19 | $3,078 | $2,988 | |
| 5 bed | Every week | $1,036 | $34.14 | $12,618 | $12,428 |
| Every 2 weeks | $561 | $18.50 | $6,904 | $6,734 | |
| Once a month | $315 | $10.36 | $3,894 | $3,780 |
For a 3-bedroom home, going from every two weeks to weekly saves $16 a visit but adds about $288 a month ($3,458 a year). Going from every two weeks to monthly saves about $159 a month, but each visit costs $34 more.
Peoria prices compared: weekly vs every two weeks
Every company we checked charges less per visit for weekly than for every two weeks, because there's less buildup each time. Published per-visit prices for comparable homes:
| Company and home | Weekly | Every 2 weeks | Monthly | Weekly discount per visit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wrenly Home, 3 bed / 2 bath | $149 | $165 | $199 | 10% | Our live price list |
| CottageCare Peoria, 3 bed / 2.5 bath two-story, about 2,200 sq ft | $164 | $182 | $237 | 10% | Worked example on its price page[5] |
| CottageCare Peoria, typical home across sizes | $173 | $192 | $249 | 10% | "Typical" per-visit figures[5] |
| Molly Maid of Peoria, 3 bed / 2 bath, up to 2,000 sq ft | $140 | $150 | not listed | 7% | "Starting at" prices; no monthly price listed[6] |
Homes differ (CottageCare's example has a half bath and stairs; Molly Maid's are starting prices before an in-home estimate), so compare on your own home. CottageCare says most of its Peoria customers choose every other week[5]. For hourly rates and more local prices see how much house cleaning costs in Peoria.
Which schedule fits your home
| Your household | Schedule | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Someone at home has a dust-mite allergy or allergic asthma | Every week | EPA and AAFA both say to vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture every week (HEPA vacuum), and AAFA suggests someone without the allergy do the cleaning[1][2]. Wash sheets weekly in hot water yourself; a visit makes beds but doesn't do laundry. |
| Young children, or pets that shed | Every week or every 2 weeks | Floors and high-touch surfaces get dirty fast; the CDC says to clean more often when people at home are more likely to get sick, such as young children[3]. Weekly if you don't want to vacuum in between. |
| Two to four people, both adults working | Every 2 weeks | Wrenly suggestion. Kitchen, bathrooms and floors never get far behind, at about $288 a month less than weekly for a 3-bedroom home. |
| One or two tidy adults, often away | Once a month or every 2 weeks | Wrenly suggestion. Monthly costs the least per month but each visit has a month of buildup to undo, which is why it costs more per visit. |
| Hosting often, or working from home | Every 2 weeks, with a weekly quick vacuum yourself | Wrenly suggestion. High-touch surfaces should be cleaned regularly and after visitors[3]. |
| Selling the house or a one-off event | One-time deep clean | Wrenly suggestion. No plan needed; see deep cleaning. |
Every visit follows the same checklist whatever the schedule: kitchen, bathrooms cleaned and disinfected, dusting, vacuuming and mopping every room, beds made, trash out. A more frequent schedule doesn't add tasks; it keeps the home closer to clean between visits.
What's left for you between visits
A guide to the chores that fall to you on each schedule (Wrenly suggestion, except where a source is cited). For a full task-by-task schedule see how often to clean your house.
| Task | Weekly plan | Every 2 weeks | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vacuum carpets and rugs | Covered by the visit (weekly, as EPA advises for allergy homes) | Once yourself in the off week if you have allergies, pets or kids | About weekly yourself |
| Wash sheets | Yours, weekly (hot water if allergies) | Yours, weekly | Yours, weekly |
| Wipe kitchen counters, high-touch spots | Daily as you cook | Daily as you cook | Daily as you cook |
| Bathroom sink and toilet | Covered | Quick wipe mid-cycle | One or two quick wipes a month |
| Mop kitchen floor | Covered | Spills as they happen | Once or twice yourself |
| Dust shelves and surfaces | Covered | Covered | Covered at the visit; dust shows by week 3 |
For allergy homes: EPA advises washing bedding in hot water once a week, vacuuming carpets and furniture every week with a HEPA vacuum, and dusting often with a damp cloth, and says people with asthma or allergies should leave the area being vacuumed[1]. AAFA adds water of at least 130 °F for sheets and staying out of a cleaned room for 20 to 30 minutes[2]. A weekly visit while you're out covers the vacuuming and dusting.
How much time does a cleaning plan save?
In the 2025 American Time Use Survey, Americans 15 and older averaged 34 minutes a day on housework (0.81 hours for women, 0.30 for men), and the 36% who did housework on a given day spent about 1.55 hours on it[4]. That's roughly 3.9 hours a week per person. A recurring visit takes over the floors, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces and dusting; laundry, dishes and tidying stay with you.
Frequently asked questions
Is weekly or biweekly house cleaning better?
For most households every two weeks is the better value: a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home is $165 per visit with Wrenly Home, about $358 a month, against $149 per visit and about $646 a month for weekly. Weekly is worth it if someone at home has dust-mite allergies or asthma (EPA and AAFA advise vacuuming every week), if you have young kids or shedding pets, or if you don't want to clean at all between visits.
How much does weekly house cleaning cost in Peoria, IL?
With Wrenly Home, $109 per visit for a studio or 1-bedroom up to $239 for 5 bedrooms ($149 for a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home), plus $12 per extra bathroom. That's about $472 to $1,036 a month. Published Peoria prices elsewhere: CottageCare lists $126 to $236 per weekly visit for most homes, and Molly Maid of Peoria starts weekly cleans at $140 for a 3-bed, 2-bath home up to 2,000 sq ft.
How much does biweekly cleaning cost per month?
Every-two-weeks cleaning is 26 visits a year, so the monthly average is the per-visit price times 26, divided by 12: $258 for a 1-bedroom ($119 a visit), $358 for a 3-bedroom ($165), and $561 for a 5-bedroom ($259). Some months have three visits, so a single month's charge can be higher than the average.
Why is weekly cleaning cheaper per visit than biweekly?
Less builds up in 7 days than in 14, so each weekly visit is shorter. Wrenly Home's weekly price for a 3-bedroom home is 10% below its every-two-weeks price; CottageCare Peoria's example 3-bedroom is about 10% lower weekly ($164 vs $182), and Molly Maid of Peoria's starting prices are about 7% lower ($140 vs $150). You still pay more per month for weekly because there are twice as many visits.
Is monthly house cleaning enough?
For a tidy one- or two-person home, often yes, as long as you keep up the weekly basics yourself: vacuuming, sheets, and wiping the kitchen and bathroom sink. Monthly is $199 per visit for a 3-bedroom home (about $199 a month), the lowest monthly cost but the highest per visit, because there's a month of buildup each time.
Does the first visit cost more?
Yes. On every schedule the first visit is a deep clean ($175 to $429 by size; $269 for 3 bedrooms), paid when you book; the recurring price starts with visit two. New customers can use code WELCOME40 for $40 off the first clean.
Can I switch between weekly and every two weeks later?
Yes. There's no contract: email us to change how often we come, and skips and schedule changes are free with at least 48 hours' notice. You can also cancel anytime from your account; it stops at the end of the cycle you've paid for.
Do I still need to clean between visits?
A little, and less the more often we come. Everyone still does daily dishes and counters and washes their own sheets (visits make beds but don't do laundry). On an every-two-weeks plan, one quick vacuum in the off week covers most homes; with allergies, EPA and AAFA advise vacuuming every week, which a weekly plan covers.
